Last weekend was one of great joy and celebration for our parish, when our Assistant Curate, Fr Philip, was ordained to the priesthood by the Bishop of Fulham.
It was wonderful to welcome so many guests and friends to St Michael's for Fr Philip's ordination, including our Member of Parliament, Sarah Jones MP. Among the clergy, we were blessed by the presence of the Bishop of Southwark, Bishop Peter Wheatley, and Canon Robin Ward, the Principal of St Stephen's House, Oxford, who preached the homily.
Fr Philip was a musician before his ordination, so it was a particular joy to welcome so many friends to join with our parish choir to sing for the service. The ordinary of the Mass was Louis Vierne's Messe Solennelle. Many thanks to all the musicians for their hard work, particularly to Andy Scott our Director of Music and to Edward Batting who played the organ.
