A happy second Sunday of Advent to all our readers! We are pleased to welcome Ruth Martin to our Solemn Mass today. Ruth is the Diocesan Secretary and has been a great support to our parish.
We hear in our Gospel reading this morning about the strange figure of John the Baptist, someone of whom many were suspicious on account of his strange diet and funny clothes. He was the precursor, the one charged to prepare the way of the Lord.
Among the most famous pieces in English that depicts this gospel scene has to be This is the Record of John by Orlando Gibbons. Today the narrator is normally sung by a countertenor, but I've chosen a version down a third, so the main part is sung by a tenor, Rogers Covey-Crump
