It has been a busy two months at St Michael’s – what follows is only a summary!
We are pleased to welcome two young people to our parish who will spend the year with us as Pastoral Assistants. Jake and Laurens will be with us until July 2018, and are taking a full part in the life of prayer and worship in the Parish, as well as in pastoral work. They will soon be assisting regularly in Croydon University Hospital on the chaplaincy team, as well as on the new chaplaincy team at Croydon College.
The Pastoral Assistant scheme is a new venture for our parish, and we hope that it will be the first of many years. Details for the 2018-19 Pastoral Assistant Scheme will be released soon.
Holy Baptism, and Renewal of Wedding Vows
It was a great joy to welcome Amelia and Ray for the baptism of their son at High Mass on 15 October. Many family and friends came to support them, and there was a lovely reception in the hall afterwards. Amelia chose the music specially for the day, and we were treated to Mozart’s Sparrow Mass, which was really wonderful.
That same afternoon, we were pleased to welcome Kevin and Debbie, along with parishioners and friends, as they celebrated fifteen years of marriage. They renewed their wedding vows and we asked God’s blessing on their future life together.
Bishop Peter’s Visit
We were very glad to welcome Bishop Peter Wheatley to St Michael’s in September, when he celebrated the High Mass. Bishop Peter has been a great support and help to us in recent years, and it was wonderful to see him at St Michael’s again, not least to be able to wish him a happy seventieth birthday.
